National Weather Service Des Moines has issued a tornado watch for parts of south and central Iowa on Saturday, including Dallas and Madison counties.
The tornado watch extends across parts of Iowa, Kansas, Missouri and Nebraska, and will be in effect until 10 p.m. Saturday.
Hail up to the size of an apple is also possible, with wind gusts up to 70 mph.
Polk County is not included in the tornado watch, but neighboring Dallas County is. NWS Des Moines meteorologist Jim Lee said that it's possible Des Moines will receive severe weather as well.
Lee said. "If you are in a warning or hear sirens, go inside immediately."

"Especially this time of year, and on a Saturday evening when so many people are used to outdoor activities, it's always a good idea to have at least two ways to receive a warning,"
